Partners for Healthy Youth

What is Partners for Healthy Youth?

pfhy logoPartners for Healthy Youth is a joint City of Kettering and Kettering City Schools Advisory Board focused on facilitating support for all of our youth in Kettering. The mission of Partners for Healthy Youth (PFHY) is to bridge youth and families with resources in the local community to create a stronger Kettering.

To achieve this mission, PFHY supports several key initiatives.

We Are Kettering

PFHY, in conjunction with Kettering City Schools, created a community-based initiative to support and encourage positive behavior. The initiative models the school’s Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program. The We Are Kettering project goal is to encourage the adoption of the existing Kettering Schools language We are Respectful, We are Responsible, We are Safe to create a holistic community support system to strengthen the protective factors for kids and increase their resilience to face life and behavioral challenges.

Summer Food Program

For years, the PFHY Summer Food Program has served summer meals to youth in Kettering. The program bridges the gap that may exist for young people when they don’t have access during the summer to the same breakfast and lunch programs that are available to them during the school year. The Summer Food Program takes place for 9 weeks at two locations—The Trails of Oak Creek and Van Buren Park. The program is supported by churches, service groups and non-profit agencies in the community.

Community Hot Dog Roasts

Kettering’s Community Hot Dog Roasts are vibrant summer celebrations aimed at fostering connection and unity. Serving 550-750 at each of the three events, families gather to enjoy a meal, have fun, and access valuable resources from city, school district and community organizations. By bringing people together and offering essential information, PFHY strives to enhance community spirit, support Kettering families, strengthen bonds, and reinforce our shared values of safety, responsibility, and respect.
